A Costa Rica Vacation
Costa Rica recently dethroned Kauai as the world’s #1 vacation destination in travel surveys. Its traditional destinations for adventure, sunshine, beaches, volcanoes, and ecological wonders expanded dramatically in December, 2002.
The previously remote northern Pacific coast of the Guanacaste Province on the Nicoya Peninsula was opened to the world with an inaugural, international Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta to Liberia airport. Since that first flight, weekly arrivals in Liberia from an array of international destinations have grown to over 55 flights per week and 400,000 tourists per year. The airport exceeded the passenger volume expectations for the 20 th year of its master plan by the 3 rd year it was open.

Why are they all coming for vacation? (Why might you come?)

They are coming for the weather:

The entire country is only 10 degrees north of the equator. Its small size, between two large oceans, keeps the temperature within a very comfortable range of 70-90 degrees on most days, and 60-80 most evenings, depending upon your elevation. The northern Pacific coast is particularly attractive, averaging 320 days per year with sunshine and a mean temperature of 78 degrees. The rainy periods of the year only bring late afternoon showers most of the time,
and there are no hurricanes!

They are coming because it is close:

Many North American departure cities are less than 4 hours by air from Costa Rica. From many of these cities, Costa Rica is less than ½ the distance to Hawaii.

They are coming for the beaches:

Among the best are Playa Tamarindo, Playa Avellanas, Playa Conchal, Playa Flamingo, Playa Negra, Playa Penca, and many more to explore. The latitude and weather also help the ocean maintain an inviting temperature all year.

They are coming for the condominiums and resorts:

Sunrise Resort Condominiums, La Esquina, Casablanca, Surfside Place, Villas Casa Lomas, Oro del Sol, and Surfside Tower (Feb 07) to name a few.

They are coming for the surfing:

Bring your board to Tamarindo, Avellanas, Grande, Negra, Witch’s Rock, and many more profiled on our Beaches page:

They are coming for the attractions and activities:

Prepare to zip-line through the treetops, ride a horse near the shore, play beach volleyball, learn to dance salsa or speak Spanish, drive an ATV, windsurf, snorkel, kayak, go ocean fishing, find a private beach or waterfall, spend the day in an outdoor spa, hike a rainforest trail, dip in a volcanic hot spring, go SCUBA diving, start a fitness program, or just hangout to relax, soak up the sun, contemplate the sunsets and absorb the good karma. A short list of the possibilities is on our Tours page:

They are coming for the ecological haven that is Costa Rica:

More than 27% of the entire country is protected by the government. It has over 6% of all species known on earth with only .01% of the world’s land mass. In an area the size of West Virginia, Costa Rica has 850 species of birds, 205 of mammals, and 10,000 of plants.
They are coming for spa stays, inexpensive dental work and cosmetic surgical procedures:

Leave your stress in the open air treatment rooms of a mountaintop spa retreat. Visit state-of-the-art dental labs to get your teeth examined, cleaned, whitened, or crowns installed for a fraction of the cost in North America. After an equally reasonable cosmetic surgery procedure, recover in the privacy of your resort condo or hotel until you are ready to return home.

They are coming for the people and the sense of welcome:

Costa Ricans are among the most gracious and helpful people in the world. They are raised in close, helpful communities, and by nature they avoid confrontation and strive to be happy.
They are coming for the sense of personal freedom:

The country has a long tradition of respect for human rights, especially those of visitors.

They are coming to investigate adding Costa Rica to their lives:

It is a safe and rewarding option for investment in businesses or real estate. It is an affordable, comfortable, and secure option for retirement. It is a land where the new demands of growth, placed on a landscape of few available services, have created opportunities for individuals and families to create new lives for themselves.
